Christmas at Castlegate

4th January, 2021

THANKS TO all our customers who joined us at Castlegate over what was a very unique Christmas!

Sadly we couldn’t hold our usual Santa’s grotto but we made up for it by hosting virtual calls with the big man himself. 12 lucky children were selected for this bespoke experience with all children receiving an early Christmas present from Father Christmas.

We also couldn’t hold our usual craft events so to make up for it we gave away 150 Christmas craft kits to visiting families – we hope you all had fun getting creative!

We hid gifts around the centre with clues on social media as to where to find them – all gifts were found under an hour and our winners were thrilled with their £25 gift cards.

Local businesses also joined us in the lead-up to Christmas. From bespoke artwork to bath bombs, these pop-ups enjoyed the face covering to face covering customer interaction with 20% of their sales benefiting Middlesbrough & Stockton MIND.

Our tenants took part in a Snowman decorating competition. In the end the grand winner was Greggs who instead of a carrot had a sausage roll for a nose! The Management pick was Blue Corn Bakery and their fab Snowman apprentice.

As part of our charitable campaigns we hosted Teesside Hospice’s Light up a Life tree which was extremely popular and we look forward to finding out how much we raised for the local charity.

We also donated 12 festive hampers to those who brought community spirit to Stockton during 2020. We were amazed by the nominations we received and were in awe of all their amazing work. 12 hampers were also donated to Middlesbrough & Stockton MIND to give to the people they support alongside a donation of £250.

Our staff and tenants also took part in National Christmas Jumper day and donned festive knits to help us raise £50 for Save the Children.

We also took part in the Mayor’s 100 heroes and donated 100 Christmas craft kits to pupils at Mill Lane Primary School.

Again, we would like to say another big thank you to all of you who continue to support us during these difficult times and please stay safe.
