CASTLEGATE SHOPPING centre will be taking part in Purple Tuesday on 3rd November.
Supporting disabled people and their families, Purple Tuesday calls on businesses to make changes to improve their customer experience.
Around 1 in 5 people have a disability and of those people, 80% have a hidden disability, whether this be dyslexia, a mental health condition or a learning difficulty. This means that on average 20% of shoppers are likely to have a disability and many will need additional customer care.
Chantal Taylor, Regional Marketing Manager, said: “Last year at Castlegate we give all our staff dementia and autism training. This makes sure we can help our customers and this training is used at least once a day with visitors to the centre.”
To promote Purple Tuesday this year Castlegate have teamed up with local performing arts group Northern Stars for a virtual performance. Working with adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, the group will perform dance routines, songs and stand-up comedy shows.
Tune into Castlegate’s Facebook page (www.fb.com/CGSCStockton) on Tuesday 3rd November at 12pm for the live premiere!
