PANCAKE DAY is here, but we are bored of all the traditional toppings so we have scoured the shops to find alternative toppings!
Peanut Butter Syrup
We believe Peanut Butter tastes great on everything and it’s even better on a pancake!
Grab 1/2 cup of honey and 1/4 cup of creamy peanut putter, combine them, microwave for 30 seconds and ta-da a delicious pancake topping that you’ll soon be using for everything else.
Vanilla Bourbon Caramel Sauce
After the kids have gone to bed, try this pancake topping which is strictly for adults only…
In a small saucepan combine 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Let simmer until the sugar dissolves, then cook over medium heat until mixture turns amber.
Add cream and stir over medium-low heat until sauce is smooth. Stir in butter, vanilla seeds, and bourbon until fully incorporated. Let it cool, and drizzle all over your misses’ pancakes.
Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Syrup
It’s still freezing cold outside, so this delicious topping is a guaranteed winter warmer.
Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of packed light brown sugar in a small saucepan set over medium heat.
Bring to a gentle boil until sugar is dissolved and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon with a squeeze of lemon juice.
Bacon & Maple Syrup
Get whisked off to a diner on Route 66 with this yankee-doodle-dandy favourite.
Grab maple-cured back bacon for a true authentic taste, griddle until crisp and top with plenty of maple syrup and you’ll soon be saluting the stars and stripes.
Goats Cheese & Spinach
If you prefer savoury to sweet then try a delicious mix of creamy low fat goat’s cheese and tender baby spinach.
Serve these up for breakfast, brunch or dinner, simply mix the goats cheese and spinach, add a dollop while frying your pancake then fold in half and heat for 2 minutes to melt the cheese.
