THE CUSTOM of giving from customers was truly heartfelt with over £4,000 raised for local charities in the weeks leading up to Christmas at Castlegate.

The generous giving came in the form of £1 donations to visit Santa in his Grotto raising £2,213 for Teesside Philanthropic Foundation. A further £2,069 was donated to the Butterwick Hospice’s Tree of Remembrance bringing the grand total raised in less than 5 weeks to £4,282.

Centre Manager, Karen Eve said of the customer success, “As a shopping centre we know first hand that Christmas is a time of year when most families will have to shop within limited budgets. Our customers have shown exceptional good will for others.”

Commenting further Karen said: “An astounding sum of money has been raised by local people, for local people – we are exceptionally grateful to all those who donated.”
