Designed to promote local traders, Small Business Saturday is a national scheme that takes place on Saturday December 7th – one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
At the heart of the community Castlegate, based on Stockton High Street, is supporting the day by asking customers to shop local within the shopping centre including the newly reopened Spencer Market which houses over 20 independent traders.
Karen Eve, Centre Manager of Castlegate said: “We have 28 independent businesses within the centre including an amazing cheese delicatessen, a fishmongers, a florist, a barbers and plenty more!”
“With something to offer everyone this Christmas we are launching a free gift incentive for our customers this weekend on Small Business Saturday.
“If you spend £20 or more in any number of our independent retailers, in one day, you will receive a free gift as a little thank you. Plus you will get the chance to win a festive food hamper complete with £50 worth of vouchers too.”
Running up until Monday 23rd December, Castlegate hopes to see customers support their independents and shop local this Christmas.
In the last 12 months, 13 new independent businesses have opened in the Castlegate with 10 of those located in the newly expanded and refurbished Spencer Market Hall.
The Stockton shopping centre has seen an increase in footfall figures of 10% within the last 12 months despite the national average falling by 4.0% (Experian Footfall.)
