A NEW initiative to support the talents of the region’s future fashion designers has been secured for CCAD through the patronage of Castlegate Shopping Centre.
The Stockton-based shopping centre has become a patron of the college committing £10,000 in the form of a donation to sponsor 26 mannequins for the students to exhibit their work and promote CCAD’s final show in 2014.
The 2013 Graduate Fashion exhibition launched in October and will run for around 8-weeks, before being followed by an exhibition from the BA (Hons) Costume Interpretation and Design programme.
Included within the current exhibition is an eclectic mix of individually designed, contemporary men’s, women’s and children’s wear collections that have been exhibited at Graduate Fashion Week in London and are now open to public view on the upper floor gallery of Castlegate’s Spencer Market Hall.
Castlegate Shopping Centre Manager, Karen Eve said: “This is a great project for Castlegate and CCAD to work together.
“It provides the students with an amazing gallery space to showcase their creative skills and at the same time offers our customers the opportunity to enjoy art and design.”
“We are extremely grateful for this opportunity at Castlegate Shopping Centre” adds Vicky Wake, Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Fashion Enterprise programme at CCAD.
“The exhibition is an innovative way to provide the students and the College to access premium retail space that is not something we could ever afford to buy.
“It allows CAAD to demonstrate how we endeavor to bring the work our students produce to a local business and the community.”
