CASTLEGATE Shopping Centre has enlisted the support of famous American icon Uncle Sam to call customers to rally and ‘SHOP LOCAL.’
The US icon is the new face of our SHOP LOCAL’ campaign aimed at attracting customer awareness to support local independent retailers.
Created over 200 years ago in early American history, Uncle Sam was used to get soldiers to enlist with his imposing and familiar image of a man with a top hat dressed in red, white, and blue.
Commenting on the shopper initiative, Karen Eve, Centre Manager at Castlegate said: “We wanted to create a campaign that would stand out and shoppers would instantly recognize.
“We took inspiration using the celebrated Uncle Sam image and created ‘Castlegate Wants you to SHOP LOCAL’ – its simple and very effective”.
An American fanfare will roll in to town on Independence Day weekend Saturday June 29th to celebrate the 4th July and to launch the shopper initiative to customers.
“Castlegate has been at the heart of the community greeting and serving customers for 40 years. We are home to over 20 local independents with 5 more set to open in Spencer Market very soon.
“New tenants will include a barbers, traditional sweet shop, fishmonger, pizza shop, and freshly made doughnuts.
“Shoppers who chose to SHOP LOCAL with Castlegate can feel proud to do so knowing the money they spend stays local too” added Karen.
Shoppers wanting to support the SHOP LOCAL initiative on Saturday 29th June can expect plenty of delicious free samples from Castlegate’s independents including mini muffins, hot chicken chunks and much more.
Retailers based in Castlegate will also be featuring a week of genuine offers to celebrate the SHOP LOCAL campaign such as free chocolates with every purchase over £10 at Wild Willow florists, a free muffin with any hot drink purchase at Caffechino’s and 20% off all full priced watches at Taylors Jewellers.
